"Today is a hard day," is what it said on the Facebook page of Myrtle the Pink Elephant.

The owners of the Spartanburg iconic, life-sized, pink elephant made of fiberglass say they are moving Myrtle to a new home in Tennessee.

"Many milestones have been announced by Myrtle, many graduations, many wedding proposals and a few promposals," owners wrote.  "She will be greatly missed by this family and all of our friends."  She was hauled away on her trailer, sold because the owner no longer had a truck to move her around.  He had been relying on others to move her.

Myrtle's new home is at a used car dealer in Chattanooga which had already incorporated a pink elephant into their logo.
