Lt. Ryan Flood, Public Information Officer for the Greenville County Sheriff's Office issued the following press release Sunday.

This morning, just before 9:00am, Greenville County Dispatch received a call regarding a Greenville County patrol car driving erratically on Hwy 124, in Greenville County.

Prior to deputies arriving to the area, the caller/complainant stopped following, however a short time later we received notification that a rescue truck in Pickens County had located a wrecked Greenville County patrol car on Farrs Bridge Road.

We have since learned that a Greenville County Deputy’s patrol car was stolen from their residence within Pickens County and the theft of which is being investigated by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office. We do understand there is a suspect in custody and will defer to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol (who is handling the accident investigation) for further information.
