SPD Investigates Shooting

Major Art Littlejohn with the Spartanburg Police Department issued the following press release Sunday.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (February 16, 2020) On February 16, 2020, officers from the Spartanburg Police Department responded to a shooting call in the City of Spartanburg. Officers were dispatched to 100 Prince Hall Lane (Prince Hall Apartments, building 4) to assist a victim of a shooting.

The male victim had been shot once and was transported to Spartanburg Medical Hospital by EMS. On February 16, 2020, around 3:30 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call at 100 Prince Hall Lane at Price Hall Apartments, building 4.

When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a male in the breezeway who had been shot once in the neck area. Spartanburg EMS arrived and transported the victim to Spartanburg Medical Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

According to witnesses, the victim and the suspect were involved in an argument prior to the shooting. The victim and the suspect are acquaintances and have known each other for a period of time. The male suspect ran from the scene prior to police arrival.

Officers searched the area with K-9 units but were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect has since been taken into custody by Spartanburg Police.

The names of the victim or suspect are not being released a this time. This investigation is ongoing, there is no additional information to release at this time. The Spartanburg Police Department will release additional information as it becomes available.
