S.C. Unemployment Down Again

Only 3.4% unemployment last month

The number of unemployed people in South Carolina has dropped by a little over 3,900 in the month of August, making this the fifth consecutive month that unemployment has decreased in the Palmetto State.

The state’s unemployment rate dropped two-tenths of a percent, down from 3.6 percent in July to 3.4 percent in August. The national unemployment level remained steady at 3.9%

Business and professional jobs in South Carolina saw the most growth, adding 4,000 workers. Manufacturing saw the largest decline at 1,500.
