Search and recovery efforts for 52 year old Kip Burrell of Anderson, SC, have been ongoing since Saturday, July 15. As the thirteenth day of the incident came to a close, Anderson County emergency response agencies demobilized from the Singing Pines Recreation Area.

At this time, Mr. Burrell has not been located; however, the Sheriff’s Office and other agencies will remain watchful as fly-overs and lake patrols in the area will continue to try to locate him.
During the course of the search, more than 25 agencies provided resources and equipment. In addition, several churches and numerous individuals graciously provided food, snacks and water to the family, volunteers and rescue workers.

Lt. David Baker said, “We have utilized all resources that have been made available to us including local, State and Federal organizations. Dive teams along with multiple types of sonar instruments, marine patrol units, and shore support personnel have worked tirelessly to locate and recover Mr. Burrell.”

The Sheriff’s Office, Anderson City Fire, Williford Fire Department, and Anderson Technical Rescue have coordinated efforts over the past, nearly two weeks, and are extremely appreciative of the outpouring of support from partnering agencies they have received since the incident began.

Stacey Burrell, Kip’s wife, expressed her gratitude for the work done by all of those involved with the search. “We want to say thank you for the love, prayers and support our family has received from so many people during this very difficult time for our family. We truly have been overwhelmed by the Anderson community,” she said.

The family continues to request that media outlets respect their privacy as they work through their loss. No requests for interviews or comments will be provided at this time. The public is asked to call 911 if they see anything on the lake that might help locate Mr. Burrell who went missing near the Lake Hartwell Dam.
