From the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office regarding a Sunday afternoon shooting at the Days Inn on Outlet Road:

Our investigation has revealed that 3 individuals went to that hotel room with the intent to rob the occupant, and they were driven there by a fourth individual. After forcibly entering his hotel room, those individuals pointed a handgun at the occupant and also assaulted him.

The occupant, in fear for his life, was able to retrieve his handgun and defend himself, which resulted in the unfortunate loss of life of 2 of the individuals. The other 2 individuals were able to flee the scene and remain at large. The occupant of that hotel room has been cooperative with law enforcement from the onset, and his account of the incident has been verified by our investigation.

Our office has consulted with the Solicitor’s Office, and at present, the incident appears to be justifiable homicides. A third suspect has been identified. He is Ja-Quill Walik Tabbar Morgan, B/M, DOB: 101399, 511 Lavendula St., Spartanburg, SC, 29301. He is charged with Burglary – First Degree, Attempted Armed Robbery, and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime. All efforts to locate him have been unsuccessful, which is why our office is urging anyone with any information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.

Tipsters can remain anonymous, and if their information leads to Morgan’s location and/or arrest, they will be eligible for a cash reward. The investigation into the identity and the location of the fourth individual, the driver, continues. We aren’t releasing the name of the hotel room occupant or the shooting incident report at this time, since that individual and his family have received threats via social media. At the appropriate time, more information will be released.
