The State Law Enforcement Division's investigation into alleged misconduct by Greenville County Sheriff Will Lewis is now heading to the solicitor's office.

Savannah Nabors, former assistant to Lewis, filed a civil suit in October claiming Lewis sexually assaulted her and wrongfully fired her.

Lewis admitted having an extramarital encounter with Nabors, but denied any criminal wrongdoing.

Officials with SLED said the case has been submitted to 16th Circuit Solicitor Kevin Brackett for review.

Lewis can only be removed from office if he is charged with a crime of moral turpitude.
