A Greenville County man who shot his mother has been arrested in Anderson. 

Deputies responded to a call on Edgemont Avenue Wednesday night to find Belinda Brookshire in the front yard of the residence suffering from at least 1 gun shot wound after her son, 28 year old Michael Sammons shot her after an altercation.  Family member say Sammons was demanding money from his mother as he battles with drug addiction.

Samson was arrested by the Anderson police and charged fro drug possession.  Greenville County Deputies have obtained warrants for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Brookshire so far has survived the gun shot wound but is at the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators have obtained warrants on 28 year-old; Michael Lee Sammons in connection with last night’s shooting, at 512 Edgemont Avenue. Earlier this morning, Sammons was taken into custody by the Anderson City Police Department, where he remains on their respective local charges.

Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office have obtained warrants for Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.

 During the course of investigation, investigators learned that Sammons shot the victim at least one time after some sort of altercation.

The victim, who investigators learned is the suspect’s mother, was found in the front yard of the residence with at least one gunshot wound.

Following the shooting, EMS transported the victim to the hospital for treatment, where she remains in critical condition.
The Sheriff’s Office has placed a hold on Sammons and he will be transferred to their custody at an undetermined time.
