From the Spartanburg Co. Sheriff's Office:

Last month just before the Christmas holidays, Woodruff High School notified one of their school resource officers of a rumor that a school employee may be having an inappropriate relationship with a student. The principal confronted the employee, who denied the allegation but immediately resigned his position at the school.

After the Christmas break, the suspect came back to the school and confessed to the principal that he had been engaging in a sexual relationship with a student. The case was assigned to a special victims unit investigator, who identified, located, and interviewed the victim and her mother.

The investigator then consulted with the Solicitor’s Office, who advised the investigator of the most appropriate charge. The investigator then presented the findings of his investigation to a magistrate judge Wednesday, who approved a warrant on the suspect. The investigator contacted the suspect, advised him of the warrant, and the suspect turned himself in Thursday.

The suspect is De’Andre Reshaud Pressley and he is charged with Sexual Battery with a Student.

Statement from Spartanburg District Four:

Spartanburg District Four Superintendent Dr. Rallie Liston stated, “Mr. Pressley is no longer an employee in Spartanburg District Four. He had served in a non-certified staff position from June through December 2017. Administration immediately contacted a School Resource Officer and notified the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office when the matter was brought to their attention. Student safety has always been and will continue to be our top priority. The district conducts background checks on all employees and meets with new staff members to communicate the high expectations for employee conduct. Beyond that, we are unable to comment on personnel matters or matters related to the privacy of our students.”
