The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Williamston, SC woman on multiple charges over the weekend, including two counts of Grand Larceny.

37 year old Shelley Renae Allen of Scruggs Road was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 11:41pm Saturday.  Scruggs was arrested by the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and then turned over the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office before being transferred to the Detention Center.

Scruggs was also charged with two counts of Concealment of a Stolen Vehicle.

The charges against Allen stem from two separate investigations.  The first investigation began on August 17th as a deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division responded to an address on Old Clemson Highway in reference to reports of a stolen vehicle, which was a silver 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck.

The second investigation began on August 19th as a deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division responded to an address on Wells Highway in regards to a call regarding a stolen vehicle.  The truck was a 1987 Gray Dodge Ram 50 pickup truck.

That vehicle was later located at an address on Southgate Drive in Seneca.  The cases were turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sheriff’s Office.

As the investigation continued and evidence was gathered in both cases, it was determined that, according to arrest warrants, Allen did take both vehicles.  In the case of the 2003 Dodge, that vehicle was reportedly taken to Spartanburg for the purpose of selling the vehicle before it was stolen by someone looking to buy the truck.

In the case of the 1987 Dodge Ram, Allen is accused of removing stickers from the windows of the truck in order to alter its appearance.

As of 12:30pm this afternoon, Allen remains in custody at the Detention Center on a combined $40,000 surety bond.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation.
