Discovery Island Water Park, Greenville County

Memorial Day weekend is traditionally the start of the summer season.  With record high temperatures expected all weekend, it might be the perfect time to check out the waterparks in Greenville and Spartanburg Counties.

They are open starting today.

Greenville's water parks are run by Greenville County Parks & Rec and include Discovery Island, Otter Creek, and 7th Inning Splash.

Spartanburg County's waterpark is located in Duncan and is privately owned.  It is Shipwreck Cove

There are some rules that you need to know before going to Greenville's waterparks.  Some of these also apply to Shipwreck Cove:

  • Kids 12 years old and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult or guardian at all times.
  • Kids under 3 1/2 feet tall (or 42 inches) must wear a US Coast Guard approved life jacket at all times.
  • Swim diapers or snug fitting plastic pants must be worn by non-potty trained children.
  • No glass containers in or around pool.
  • No outside food, drink, coolers, water toys, water wings, or floats are allowed inside the park.
  • No smoking is allowed anywhere in any of the parks.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend.
