A missing woman whose remains were found burned in an Upstate home may have overdosed before she died.

Stacy Davidson Carmack had last been seen at the end of May.

Carmack’s burned remains were found Friday in the home on Oakvale Drive in Piedmont shared by brothers, Charles and Tony Dogan.

Sergeant Ryan Flood with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that deputies in Laurens County were involved in the May 29 pursuit of a vehicle that belonged to Carmack.

After the car theft suspects were caught, they told deputies that Carmack had possibly overdosed at the home on Oakvale Drive, Flood said.

Deputies said there was no sign of Carmack at the home.

Deputies returned to the Oakvale Drive home June 13 after they got information from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office that Carmack had been reported missing. That’s when deputies found the burned remains.

The brothers were arrested on charges of desecration of human remains, criminal conspiracy and obstruction of justice.
