In this week's edition of the WORD Cover Story, we continue our look at small towns in the upstate with a visit to Landrum.

I had the opportunity to meet two very nice people in town. One a citizen of four years named Susan Caulk. The other, Patty Otto, owner of the Hare and Hound, a popular tavern in Landrum.

Susan is the manager of the local Habitat for Humanity store and had nothing but glowing things to say about the town she calls home.

The Hare and Hound is an extremely popular tavern in town. I had lunch there and was very impressed by the food. It's owner, Patty Otto, was kind enough to talk to me for a few minutes about life as a business owner in Landrum.

Ed Jenson was able to speak with longtime resident Joey Brown.

And Patrick Gentry spoke with a Landrum success story, Mary Wolters, about the history of the Red Horse Inn.
