Downtown Greenville is getting more renovations.

On July 9 the city of Greenville’s Design Review Board will be holding a meeting at 4pm in City Hall to discuss the proposed master plan to update the area surrounding the Peace Center.

Up first on the docket is the restoration of the Wyche Pavilion.

The Peace Center had an initial plan for the restoration, but those plans have been amended, hence the need for a new meeting to present the plans to the public.

The new plan arose after a meeting was held back in February, wherein the Design Review Board shared some recommendations related to the proper designs necessary to meet standards when it comes to renovating a historic structure.

Wyche will be enclosed in the new designs, making it a fully functioning venue rather than a simple open air spot, but renovators aim to preserve the elements that make it special while, in their own words, “not overpowering the existing pavilion.”

The meeting on July 9th is open to the public so if you have some thoughts on the renovation, stop by City Council on that day at 4pm.
