Is Gov. McMaster Anti-Drilling?

Promises to Protect SC ... from 11,000 jobs, a billion a year in tax revenue?

We thought Gov. Henry McMaster was a fiscal conservative. Then surely he'd at least be willing to listen to the case for drilling off the SC coast, which studies have show could generate between 11,000 and 35,000 jobs in the state and nearly a billion a year in additional tax revenue.

But a letter he sent to a constituent seems to indicate he's opposed to the idea. McMaster seems woefully out of date and uninformed on the supposed dangers drilling, and the remifications of an oil spill on the coast. A new study found that the Horizon BP spill had zero impact on the fishing industry, with the catch remaining exactly the same after the spill as before.

Hopefully he supports exploration and would be open to a real debate on drilling on our coast and doesn't have the closed mind this letter seems to indicate.

We'll ask him, should we ever get him on The Tara Show.
